Hello All!
I hope you all are looking and feeling Fabulous! I have stepped up my game recently by committing to working out 3 days a week. I also committed to eat right. I have created an eating plan but I will not share that info until the new year as it proves itself to work for me. Anyway I had been listening to the Micheal Baisden show recently and discovered that he has a section having women calling in talking about why they don't workout. It was amazing to hear how women still say that they don't workout because they want to keep their hairstyle for two weeks or so. Well being a salon owner I can't really say that it is totally amazing to hear that statement , but I have been taking care of my clients who live their life fully without hair restraints.
First of all let me shed a little history of myself.I have to admit that I have not totally exposed my business or talents fully for the last ten years.I have been married for 11 years and once we became pregnant and I became a mommy my focus changed. My Cosmetology career started when I was a child but 13 is when I started taking hair clients. My first hair show that I produced was in New Haven ,Ct at the age of 19.I later moved to Atlanta, finished Cosmetology School and went in full gear. It was not until I landed my hair artistry in a national magazine when I realized that I had a true gift. From there I was featured in several hair publications, even landed some covers to magazines. I started working with celebrities such as Angela Bassett, Kandi and Tini of escape, Jermaine Dupri, and others.My career was at a very high peek and I feel in love with my now husband.To make a long story short my husband graduated from Morehouse College , he opened a cafe in Myrtle Beach SC on the beach and we lived in Ga, and SC. My husband and I had a ball running the cafe and I also started dabbing into the media industry and started working at a radio station. I was on my way to being a baby Oprah until God blessed us with our daughter Shina in 1999.Then Our son Mr. Chase in 2001. We opened two salons in Atlanta and it wasn't until Chase was born that we started Natural Radiance Beauty Company offering exclusive salon services as well as all natural hair and body products. So all of this to say currently I have a private, exclusive two chair hair loft that is close to my home.I am such a hands on mom that I enjoy the convinance of working close to home . My clients enjoy the hair loft and the convinance and schedule allows me to focus on raising my family and letting the world know about Nekesa's Natural Radiance hair/skin products. I have not advertised the services aspect of my company publicly. The product and education aspect of the company is advertised quarterly.
Now that you have some history of the beginning of Nekesa and NNR Beauty Company you can realize why someone so talented and skilled in haircare has been unknown to some and loved by many. God has carved my lane for me and I am learning balance of family and business everyday.I have taken full ownership over my gift ,thankful to god. My experience in natural haircare, hair weaving, and braiding and chemical services are strong enough to help the listeners of Micheal Baisden overcome their hair issues. I have converted clients from relaxer to naturals for the past 10 years. I have also taught clients, salon operators,and owners how to care for their own hair texture how it grows out of their hair while still looking Glam!!!The world is my stage ! I'm just a tad concerned about Black women not having any hair in a few years....due to weaves. It's not that I wake up every morning thinking about hair weaves, but I write a lot of hair stories, which means I talk to a lot of experts. They're pretty much all saying the same thing, that hair loss, due to the tension or glue from weaves (and lace fronts actually) is common today. And it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm talking to a stylist, dermatologist or trichologist (scalp expert), they're all seeing, regularly, compromised hairlines, bald patches, or major thinning, from weaves. I asked Kim Kimble, kimblehaircare.com (stylist to Beyoncé, Mary J and plenty of other gorgeous-haired celebs) to enlighten me on this particular issue. She started off by letting me know that, for the most part, hair weaving isn't taught in beauty school. You need a license to color or relax hair, but you don't need a license to weave. And most stylists learn to weave by trial and error.

Adrin Washington, a weave pro at the Ted Gibson & Hela Spa, helaspa.com, in D.C., says he has a host of weave-wearing clients with healthy heads of hair. How so? Washington says you need a great stylist (one who knows what your hair can take and will weave accordingly) and quality human hair. Sounds simple enough, but this combination just isn't the norm. A great stylist will make sure your scalp remains clean and healthy. She/he will give you plenty of deep treatments, regular trims and more than likely suggest you give that weave a break every now and then. This was an interesting article that I found on Essence.com. During the fall and winter it is usually the time when most clients want to weave hairweave to give their hair a restight.Most weaves are set to last for about 8-10 weeks.The essential part of a good hairweave is the foundation.The hair cannot be braided to tight or sew in too tight.It is important to research what techniques that the stylist uses to give you a desired look.Once you have the weave it is important to not pull or constantly tug on the hair. Another thing is to keep you scalp clean and stimulated by massage. I recommend NNR Scalp Refresher which a witch hazel based natural scalp astringent.

Hello to all,
The beauty about being a momprenuer is the flexibility you have to hang out at you kids school. This blog is of course about haircare, products and the beautybusiness but the key element for the blog is the fact tht I am a full time mom and wife while running my business. I was inspired to start this blog last summer because I knew in adition to me there are other supermoms accomplishing so much.I figured that someone would read this blog and relate to the fact that being a supermom is allowing time for yourself, knowing that nothing is perfect, staying prayed up and laughing at yourself ...a lot. Laughter is good for your soul.I always say if somene were to video the happening of my home and business life they would see that it is never ever a dull moment.I love ever bit of it. Today for example , just as I dropped the kids off to school and was rushing home to get some additional snoozing on in all this beautiful rainy weather I get a phone call.My daughter is like Mom the Student of the Month breakfast is today @ 745. I knew about the breakfast for a while now and posted a note on the fridge but the bed was calling my name.So needless to say I get to the breakfast , meet her friends, stopped at my sons class,my niece and basically did the check in with the teachers and no nap for me.It's ok because I had product orders to fill which requires me to make them and new stores to follow up with.I will make sure I get in the bed early tonite.I promise to do no research online, no schoolwork,and definitely no tv.Tomorrow I work with clients @ www.nekesanrhairloft.com and need to be rested.

Over the weekend I went to see the movie"Good Hair" by Chris Rock. It was enterteaining and informative. There were some question marks that came to mind with some of the parts in the movie. I Guess that what you can expect from a comedian. I do respect him for ringing this topic up and exposing some of the true facts about blackhair and all the things black women or women in general go through. The information about relaxer was shocking. He did a chemical experiment with a chemist and showed what sodium hydroxide(relaxer) does to a soda can, so imagine years of improper relaxing.With continued education and open forum I think there will be more options for women when it comes to hair choices.
As I was gathering info for this entry I an across this article that I thought was adorable. I can relate to this article ecause my father has fixed my hair, prior to me learning how to do my own. Then my husband has done our daughters hair and boy oh boy.Definately he got an A fir effort but the style was something else although our daughter loved it . This Dad has stepped up and I thinkthe book would be a great stocking stuffer.

It is obvious when a dad does a kid's hair -- it has uneven parts and mismatched accessories. One dad has come up with a solution for dads who are hair-challenged.
Bruce Sallan: Craig Lawrey's book, "Does Your Daughter Have DADHAIR? A Step-by-Step Guide for Dads," teaches dads how to manage their daughter's hair. Using color photographs, hints, tips, and psychology of the father-daughter bond, he humorously makes light of and helps abolish DadHair, which he defines as:
dadhair (dad-hār) n. A style in which hair is arranged so that it is obvious that an unskilled stylist (namely the male paternal figure) is responsible. Syn. DISASTER, TRAGEDY.
I interviewed Craig -- and we had the following exchange:
Bruce Sallan: So what inspired you to want to learn how to manage your daughter's hair?
Craig Lawrey: My total inability to do so, really. I would see my daughter's friends with nice hairstyles, and my daughter looked like a cave-child. I think the true spark happened when a mom pointed out that fact.
BS: What did she say?
CL: It was a matter-of-fact put-down that felt, frankly, horribly sexist even if it was true. From that day on, I was going to learn to have my daughter's hair look better than her daughter's hair.
BS: I see you took the mature approach. Where did you come up with the term "DadHair"?
CL: I just gave it a name! Ask most moms and they'll have a similar name for it.
BS: So why this book?
CL: As I actually became somewhat proficient, the requests from other fumbling dads and amazement from moms (that a dad could actually do such a thing) got me thinking: Maybe I should help more people other than my brother and some buddies?
BS: What makes your book special?
CL: It's a book written by a real dad for real dads. When questioning moms for ideas, I was lost, as their terminology was so foreign to me. I put in the book what dads will actually be able to handle, man to man, as if I'm talking to a friend.
Craig's book is really a simple step-by-step introduction, for either dad or mom. It's sort of like a juggling book, except learning to juggle is a lot easier, I suspect. It's fun, genuinely helpful, and will make a great Christmas/Father's Day gift for most daughters to give their dads. At the Orange County Children's Book Festival on Oct. 4, "DadHair" will make its first public showing and will be available for purchase. If you can't make it to the festival, you may purchase it at DadHair.com beginning October 5.

This looks like a must-have for the holiday season! I also like the duct tape on the cover, nice touch! I guess I just took for granted that people know how to do hair… but this looks like a “Kids hair for dummies”! Awesome!

A great idea for Dad’s of all ages. Even grandparents would love this book! This is a book I’d like to stash away for my own 3 sons for the day they have their own little bundle of joys! Great idea! The book gave Dads great tips on hair and bonding with one’s daughter! It even managed to touch my heart and make me laugh! BTW…the model on the cover…simply beautiful!

What a terrific idea. An informative and funny guide to Dadhair. I know quite a few fathers who could benefit, and a lot of mothers too. It would even be a great gift for daughters to purchase for their dads as sort of a preventive strike against the much feared and misunderstood cave-children hairdo. Looking forward to picking up a few pointers.

I’ve read thru an advance copy of this book and it’s definitely a keeper for me. My twin girls don’t lock the door to the bathroom anymore when I ask if I can help with their hair. LOL. As a daughter of a single father I can attest quite knowledgeably about the horrors of walking about with “DAD HAIR”. This book is filling a void and is long overdue! I wish it had been around when I was a little girl. I’ll be ordering copies for all the dads I know…single or otherwise!

Chris Rock Releases Documentary Called 'Good Hair'

Working on a project that took two years in the making, actor and comedian Chris Rock has completed a controversial documentary called “Good Hair” that uproots the inter-workings of the $9 billion dollar African-American hair industry.

Inspired by what he calls his youngest daughter's “hair envy,” or uneasiness with her naturally curly hair, Rock has set out to discover the power and politics around African-Americans and their hair, according to the Wall Street Journal. Rock traveled across the country from beauty salons to barbershops to hair chemical factories interviewing ordinary people and celebrities about the political implications that our hair has had in the community.—QS

Nia Long Talks 'Good Hair'

On the heels of her appearance in comedian Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair," actress Nia Long and ESSENCE invited five smart and stylish women—singer Solange Knowles; singer Ledisi; TV host Tanika Ray; celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen; and writer and producer Tonya Lewis Lee—for a provocative discussion about Black women's love-hate relationship with their hair in the article "The Root of the Issue." The exchanges between the women, moderated by ESSENCE beauty and cover director Mikki Taylor, range from hilarious to heartbreaking, but they all keep it real on this hot-button issue.

I was excited to see the movie "GOOD HAIR"when I read about it last year. I thought wow a documentary about Black Hair. Finally someone is bringing to the surface about chemicals, weaves, naturals etc. Well when I saw the commercials I then got upset because I thought...a mocumentary. I know that Chris Rock is a comedian but I figured since his daughter triggered this idea for the movie it would be somewhat serious. The commercials did not look serious at all.So I am catching up on my beauty sleep and I hear Whoopi and Barbara Walters going off about hair, and black women wanting to emulate white women.It was interesting that 12% of the population is black and the haircare industry is a 9 billion dollar business sold to black. I am so happy to hear that Chris Rock says NoRelaxer ! for his daughters. Good Hair is whatever hair that works for you according to Chris Rock. You all just have to stay tuned in because NNR is going to keep this convo going as we have for the last 10 plus years. I must say that I have some things that I have to really make a move on.

Hair Memiors:A hair care guide for young girls of color

I swear I have been writting a book since I started specializing in healthy hair care. I have also had a passion for talking to young girls about self esteem, empowernment and the importantance of self knowledge.Now I do have several finished notebooks about hair research, interviews from differnent people regarding the issue of esteem, hair and how the two work together but never a published a public form called a book. Well I am so happy that I finally had the time and gudiance from God to point this book in the right direction. I have decided to self - publish (for now) a book for young girls and women of color called "Hair Memiors":A hair care guide for young girls of color.I truely believe that if a person is taught how to..then it will be easier to climb that mountain of life , success or whatever is presented before them because they are already equiped with the knowledge that they need. This book is an easy read explaing hairsytles, the art and history of hair, period hairstyling,knowing your texture and much more. The key element about this book iss that there is a section of letters from professional women sharing their experience and insight on their own hair stories of past and present .I hope to give young girls and women knowledge on their own hair texturues, solutions of caring for it and the ability to embrace their own texture however it naturally grows out of their scalp.God made everything body perfect and he definately did not make any mistakes especially when it came to the texture of hair.

A love affair with my hair

I have worn many hairstyles but I must admit that I am in love with my Diamond Cut Twist (TM) starter locs.I have always wanted to loc my hair but after being patient with everyone else's hair I just did not have the patience with my own. I have tried loc extentions and just letting my hair "be" twice before but I can say that I am in it for the long run. I am patiently enjoying every step towards locing my hair. My 3 week vacation in Bonaire , Netherland Antilles

I know that the last time I posted I was surely to update you all on the hair and fashion on Bonaire, netherland Antilles. Unfortunately I was not able to. I did see that all the women absolutely love red/burgandy/maroon hair, but that was it. I was so wrapped up with my family that I felt ....work can wait. This is one issue come face to face with daily. It is the balance of family,work, marriage and me time.Well as you can see family won this battle. It is not hard ...I admit that sometimes I am a workaholic, or even a perfectionist but ...I do it all in moderation and balance thank God I work for myself! The island is beautiful and I could definately see myself spending two or so months out of the year to write, relax ,and get charged up for the hustle we call life in the states.This vacation has taught me more patience as well as being grateful for what I already have. I once said to my cousin that success is different for many people and as far as I am concerned ...if you live you dream daily then you are successful.Simple living with a strong sense of pride is what I have picked up from the locals here. It has been a different learning experience. The only thing that is done here in which like is "siesta" that is a time beteen 12pm-3pm when most businesses close for lunch. They are able to go home...my fav take a nap etc. Can you imagine in the states 12pm-3pm you could just leave your job and return at 3pm. I DO NEED TO ASK THE QUESTION IF THEY ARE PAID FOR THAT. But for sanity sometimes that pay does not matter a bit. Until later

I AM TRUELY CONVINCED...that what you put in is what you recieve.I have been in business as a beauty entrprenuer for over ten years.Through this time I have dabbled and moonlighted into some other avenues.I have my Associates Degree in Marketing.I tried being a resturantuer with my husband,I sold radio advertisment, then I wanted to be a radio announcer,the next thing that came was nursing. Needless to say none of these things added up...but did pan out to a life learned lesson of being grateful.All of these careers did not feel the least bit good to me.I remember in nursing school saying"if I fail one class then God is telling me that this career is not for me.Well it happened.The easiest class of them all ...Nursing Fundamentals. I am a hands on person and this class was just that,I was told to do a rectal laxative....that was that for me.In addition to all my patients recieving spa treatments,and arometherapy I failed the class and said goodbye to my nursing career.

Money is definately something that we all need to survive, but I say if I have to work it needs to be something that I love.I have truely learned to be grateful when God gives you a gift and stay in your own lane.If you stay consistant eventually things will fall in your favor.Stay tuned as I keep you all posted on my I am My Hair Tour, Hair Memoirs the book,and a 2010 speaking schedule.

How -to- instructions Flat Twist Knots

This model is wearing the Flat twist knots.

1. Her hair was shampooed and conditioned with NNR Rosemary Hair Mask

2. I then applied NNR Moisture Mousse and NNR 3n1 deep moisture treatment to her hair.

3.I then crescent parted her hair and started at the hairline with a flattwist.

4.Once I twisted a little pat the hairline I then looped the flat twist away from the scalp.

5.The flat twist should be twisted back to scalpthen secured at the nape with just twisting.

6.Once all of rows have been twisted the client should be put under the dryer with a sanex strip for 20-30 minutes.

7.After drying NNR hydrating sheen should be sprayed for sheen.

This hairstyle should last between 2-3 weeks.

Some people have asked me about the title of my blogspot ...I Love Nay Nay> Did you name it after I Love New York? NO!!! So I am sitting here sipping on my morning java and I start laughing to myself. I know some people know that my nickname is Nay Nay since I was a little girl.All of my family call me Nay Nay and that is that. When I moved to Atlanta back in 1994 to come to Cosmetology School and I would drop of the Nay's. I just wanted a more mature name...at least that's what I thought.When I met my husband he immediately called me Nekesa which is my first name. He told me how beautiful my name was and I started recieving alot of compliments on my "government name" lol.
When I decided to start this blog my husband and I were talking and going over names. When we started dating he always said to me ...if you had a tv show it would be like I love Lucy. I guess he knew how silly I am and always seem to be into some kind of adventure. This was in the late nineties so ...I did not copy off of I Love New York.LOL.I simply started to blog about my day to day life as a mom, wife, an beauty busineswoman.Stay tuned an now you know why I have named this blog I love Nay Nay!

As I am in my salon working on a client , I have taken the time to go over some issues in the haircare industry.My client and I were talking hair talk..you know hair product, style options and knowing your texture. I have to be honest with anyone out there that want to know the truth.There is NO MIRACLE TEXTURE CHANGING HAIR PRODUCT out there other than chemical relaxers,or curly perms aka jheri curl.There is enough business for all haircare professionals out here but I have to say that products like Ms.Jessie's designed by two black/asian sisters are not particularly for every hair texture, especially a texture like mine and 90% of my clients. I am in no way hating on these women, they inspire my but I have to be honest when it come to my clients and people with a tightly curly texture looking for a hair product. NNR hair products are designed to put moisture back into the hair.When your hair is very curly,of kinky it tends to be dry because by the time the natural oils go through the cuticle to the hair shaft it stops because of the tight curl. Straight hair is more oily because the keratin goes directly from the root to the end with nothing to stop it.People when it come to natural haircare iol and water are the best things to use. If you reflect on early childhood years those items use to train our ponytails. So try a little water which is a natural moisturizer for hair and NNR signature 3 n-1 deep moisturizer which is an olive oil base product.

It is not quite summer and I must say that it has been an eventful one. The children are out of school already. They get out so early here in GA, but they go back early August 10. Although my children asked for a non-agenda summer schedule I seem to still be so busy driving them from pool to park.Note to self we have got to get a real pool for next summer.I do plan on traveling this summer so I am quite excited about that.
As far as the business, I have been doing some salon renovations and we have a nail tech,jelewry designer Nikita Hollingsworth,@www.nikitascreations@blogspot.com and salon marketing person, Ms.Angela with Twenty6marketing@gmail.com. Planted seeds eventually harvest. "I AM MY HAIR ..Curly.Kinky,Wavy,Straight...but always healthy!" is a hair tour launched for this summer. It is the first one in years that I have done out of town.I have traveled to CA,TX,SC,CT,NY years ago to do several clients at a time but I have been keeping it local in Atl for a while now.I am so excited about this tour because I truely love educating clients about hteir hair, hair,and style options. I also enjoy pampering those who need it.As women, moms,sisters,daughters we rarely take time out for ourselves. We rush, rush, rush our hair, nails and beauty treatment process. I live by the motto if Mama not happy then noboby is happy.This tour is someting that I am creating to be a reoccuring event.Once a year I want it to be huge like a spa weekend geteay that comes to you.

Chris Rock Releases Documentary Called 'Good Hair'

I am so interested in seeing this documentary. My friend Tavia has a hair documentary called "How we livin in Hair". This video was based on the lifestyles of hairstylist and what inspires them. I thought of creating a documentary about African American hair and the women who wear it. I will keep you posted but in the meanwhile check out Mr. Rock's discovery on Hair.There is enough room for everyone...but I do know when one has an idea 50 other people have the same idea, it is about who executes it first.

These are the stories of my lifelong journey for "good" hair.Black men like straight hair, permed hair, relaxed. It doesn't matter if it's your own or some lady's from China. White men dig the roots, the natural look, even the braid.I'm a Black woman and these are my hair confessions. So maybe not all Black men, and maybe not all white men are as I've described, only all the ones I know. The only exception to my full-proof rule are mixed guys or those Black men with a vanilla latte hue. You never know what type of request you'll get from those guys. I should know...My hair. I've had:Jheri curl, s-curl, asymmetrical cut, braids, micro and big, so much color, that I am not even sure what my natural color is exactly; weaves, long ones short ones, light brown, black, wigs and of course, my most loyal friend, RELAXER!
Olive's, Danny's His and Hers in Boston, Helen's Hairum in Springfield, Barry Fletcher and the Hair Gangsters in Maryland, the Haitian hair salon in Tampa where you can have "NO perm" and they'll blow dry your hair so straight people will swear your momma is Indian. There's Neeko (hands down the best to ever pick up a curling iron or scissors), this man can color and relax your hair in the same day and you won't be screaming, except to say "damn I'm fly!"
I'm sure I've paid for a few cars, diamond rings, down payments on houses with all the money I spent on my do.
My momma has curly do anything hair. I, unfortunately, did not get those blessed genes. Thanks mom!
I've owned curling irons, but it was merely for show, or for my friends who would stop by and ask if I, a black woman, had a curling iron. I always did, but they never understood the absurdity of their question. These hot iron curling tools mainly sit at the bottom of a drawer, collecting dust, on stand-by, waiting to be used.
I used to be one of those "regulars", "every week" type of girls.

This is a story tht I found very interesting . How many on you can relate?

It is just 18 days into the New Year and my schedule is already booked until May 2009. I give thanks! It is such a good feeling to be able to do what you love to Good att the time.Well you know me...I started classes on the 15th.I am pretty excited for this semester. I am taking a required course call ADW African Diaspora of the World.It is such a great class, I took the first session last semester so I am taking 112.I am also taking Intro the Literary studies and I am cross registering at Clark Atlanta University, and there I am taking business class Production/Operation Management. This class should be well to help me with The production and management of Nekesa's Natural Radiance Beauty hair and skin product line.So.....I can't wait.
Anyway I am posting pics of this wonderful pampering party that I did along with my beauty biz friends and the partywas Awesome!It was held at the Marriot hotel downtown in the Penthouse suite.It was so elegant and it went so well that I will be having a party at the me Penthouse on March 27,2009! Yes it is going to be Haute.The Theme is "Beauty Balance"...Beauty is a everyday thing.This event is going to be for those who want to know those beauty secrets on how to stay beautiful everyday.there will be a Image Consultant, Make-up Artist, of course me the Hair Expert, and a Manicurist.We will also have a jelewry maker, and Nutritionist.This event will be the type of event that one could come to and leave from the event and go on a dinner date, a show , or out dancing. As I woke up to do my online radioshow this morning I got the harsh reality about technology.Although technology is a excellent source of information,entertainment,etc.....It crashes sometimes.My scheduled segment was at 7 am well my Internet was not working for some reason.Well my husband is home from med school briefly , I was so grateful because he handled it .needless to say the show started at 8 30 am. I am working on being more of a morning person but I could not stop thinking "I could have slept at least until 8am...but oh well.

I also had to get prepared for Nikki's appointment at 9"I know I sometimes keep a tight schedule"anyhow Ms . Nikki is on her way to a 7 day western Caribbean cruise.HOW LUCKY!I act as if I don't travel but if it were up to me vacation would be once a month.Yes I aid it I feel that it is so needed with everything we do.Well I do vacation at least every three months...even a rode trip but I have learned to do is Create a Spa/Vacation experience in my bathroom and certain parts of my home.However back to Nikki We thought that a basic cornrow style will be great for the trip.The last two times I visited an Island I had a press or weave with some hair out in the front.What a mistake ,so we did not want her going down that same route. Her hair turned out wonderful as you will see at the bottom of the page.She will be able to get her hair wet,swim if she wants. She can wear a sun hat while touring the different islands.She is set and this style will last her 4 weeks.
The other photos are my sister Neffy and her childhood friend Corey.Corey and Neffy were once natural but they did not have me around and had to relax their hair again..But with my touch and Nekesa's Natural Radiance hair products their hair will stay whipped in shape.

I am aware that it has been a lonnng time since I have posted a blog.I could go in to say things like the last semester a Spelman kicked my butt.Or between runnung around chaffeuring my children to and from piano,football...oh yeah football was so serious I thought that we were in the NFL ....seriously.But back to the topic at hand I AM NOT GOING TO MENTION ALL OF THAT,but i will mention that all these things were going on while my husband was in Medical School...In Bonaire, Netherland Islands.Yes i did get a chance to go on a mommy only vacation there...but I was soooo not into my laptop, blackberry or any communication.Well you will be happy to know that I am now charged up, with a nice schedule , a babysitter , and an assistant two daysa week.so Yeah! now we get to get into some good gosp 'l about hair,fashion,exercise , and loving yourself topics.I will be hosting my radio show once a week and blogging a couple times a week.So I will have hat posted up ASAP.I am happy to say that Nekesa's Natural Radiance Beauty Company is doing some great things in 2009 not because it is the new year but because this is How We are and Been Living.Athough this is dedicated to all my Yummy Mummies it is a informational, funny blog about my life as a Mommy, Beauty Mogul,Wifey, Celebrity Hairstylist and just an all around GOGETTER!!!

Yesterday I squeezed some extra tasks into my agenda ,but that usually happens when I go out of town.I started Spelman College last year and this now will be my second semester and my major is English you are probably like why not a Business Major? Well I am already in businesss. I have been studying business and tactics for over ten years now.English will help me grow as a person and a Business woman. Life is amazing and time flies when you are having fun. Yesterday I had some things I had to handle on campus before the fall semester starts.I decided to challenge myself and take a computer graphics class. It should be very interesting.Here I am a person who never enjoyed interaction with a computer to creating websites, blogs,and now this computer class.I will now learn how to design my own fliers , marketing materials,and most of all labels for my product line.It is easy to hire someone to do things for you but there is nothing like knowing how to operate a main vessel of your company.Fro example Mr.Tyler Perry...it really is funny to me how people see only what is in front of them .Tyler Perry was homeless doing shows and wearing all the hats.He was the Make-up Artist,Ticket booth person,Director,Writer,and Actor.i am reading the book "The New Earth" and as the author explained "when people work so diligently whereas they are able to perform tasks that are out of their duty description ,are said to be working in a very spiritual state of mind"Tyler Perry,Oprah,Cathy Huges,myself Nekesa J Smith,and others are visionaires who walk in faith everyday.Tyler Perry is worldwide,but it took him believing wholeheartedly in his vision.I am so sure some people thought he was crazy.That is the part that amazes me that people see that you are doing something extraordinary,your heart is truly exposed until you go big then they comment on they always knew,can I have a job etc ,etc.God ha given us the strength to do anything we put our minds to.My thing is support new visionaries in their early stage.Who knows you might get inspired to create your own lane of greatness.Until again Look Beatiful,Feel Beautiful,Smell Beautiful with Nekesa' Natural Radiance

Well better late than never.Today I practiced "Being"I was in the mode of just be.I went out of town this weekend .I could not believe that I did not bring my laptop.Well I hung out at the beach one of my fav places.I love the ocean, it is so calming . My babies are back ...so my routine is back on and popping.I have some great things going on this week.We move into our Fayetteville Office!!!I am so excited about that , then I spoke to my Graphic Artist Ann(who is also a supermom) We are ready to launch the magazine and it's name is Supernova Lifestyle Magazine. It is of course will be a magazine with the forefront information on hair, fashion , music , and the people who make it happen! Also this week I am starting my campaign at the salon with Natural Radiance Inspire "School is cool with the right tools". As my mother says "More Hair" Today is another hair day.I usually start at 10 am for syling my clients.I have a schedule of Hair Salon Services Tuesday and Thursday.I teach classes on Saturday morning.Well I am going to take two celebrity clients that I create Fabuloso Hairstyles on. Now sometimes I just don't have to name names really.... this person is having some personal time.I have a two chair studio salon.It is exclusive ...because I have a full schedule on some days ...and my time is valuable.For those who have visited this blog from the begining you can see I am getting more better with the look and content of this blog site.I was always one saying " I will just pay someone to do all of my computer work."I really got to a point where I wanted to fully understand the mechanics of the other departments of Natural Radiance.Speaking of different departments I also had to make(manufacture)an order.I made 48 hair nourishers,48 scalp refreshers , and continued perfecting Shina's Hair Pudding.I will not blog until Monday July 20,2008.Tommorow I will go to about 10 black owned beauty supply stores. We also have to prepare for a show on Saturday in South Fulton Atlanta. Today things are a little quiet around the office...business as usual but quiet. I have booked some hair appointments,made some meeting for possible new vendors for the hair product.Shina and Chase are on vacation so being without the children is different.My husband Shenard and I have been able to hang out a lot.We went to "The Pearl" seafood bar.It was so delious.If you are ever in the Peter Street area in Altlanta you have got to look them up.Shema is the owner over there and she is great.I gave Shenard a suprise birthday there and all the guest just loved "The Pearl". Executive Decisions

Today Tuesday July 15 ,2008. Have you ever had to make a major decision that you are torn between but your first mind has pretty much ........kicked in. Well that is my dilemma today .My agenda for this weekend is crazy. Saturday, July 19 I am expected at a pampering party for for an organization in Atlanta.Then I am do in North Carolina to an event called Escape2Sisterhood retreat.I already had everything planned.My assistant Natasher and I would go to the retreat in North Carolina. Two of my best clients Zipporah Taylor and Maxine Brown would work the pampering party in Atlanta.They have been trained already and they have worked a show before so it would be a breeze for them.The last appointment is my children's golf sign up.Now any of you who have children know that when it comes to their education or enrichment activities it is always , always a waiting list ,lines ,etc.I figured that my father could go Saturday morning July 19 and bring the registration form and they would be ready for phase two of the golf lessons.Monday morning I received the email that the actual guardian would have to sign the children in.They stressed NO RELATIVES, FRIENDS, etc.I was floored ..What will I do.My first mind is always serves me right and everyone knows that my Mom duties first. My children come first so the Executive decision ha been made.I will have to cancel The engagement in NC. What I will Have ti do is end the products through the mail with literature and marketing materials. I usually do not like to cancel but things happen and that is the reason I work for myself, and I loving it!
